Wielding a distinctive artistic vision, Andrea Conangla (Portugal / Spain) is making her mark in the classical and contemporary music fields, as both a singer and improviser.
Andrea Conangla, soprano, studied at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart with Prof. Angelika Luz and Prof. Ulrike Sonntag. She has been awarded several prizes, including 1
st prize at the Concurso Internacional de Música Santa Cecília 2013, was a scholarship holder of the Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg in 2020 and received the InSzene:Vokal grant (Podium Gegenwart, Deutscher Musikrat) for promising voices in the field of contemporary music in 2021/2022. She complemented her training in specialized vocal styles such as bel canto, German Art Song, historically informed performance practice and extended techniques in masterclasses with Margreet Honig, Susan Waters, Sarah Maria Sun, Donatienne Michel-Dansac, Thomas Seyboldt, Ulrike Hofbauer and Anna-Maria Hefele. Andrea lectured on vocal improvisation at Trossingen State University of Music from 2020 to 2023 and as a guest lecturer conducted workshops and seminars at Balleteatro, Porto, and Łódź University of Music, Poland.
Andrea Conangla made her debut as Nymph (
L'Orfeo) at the Stuttgart State Opera in 2022. In the same year, she sang with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, where she embodied Blonde (
Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Barbarina (
Le Nozze di Figaro) and Papagena (
Die Zauberflöte) in a staged children’s concert. In 2023, she made a guest appearance at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels as Talus for the world premiere of
Solar - Icarus Burning by Howard Moody. For the 100th anniversary of György Ligeti's birth, she sang
Mysteries of the Macabre in Portugal under the baton of conductor Nuno Coelho. In 2022, she accepted an invitation from the
Sond’Arte Electric Ensemble and has since toured Portugal and Spain in the role of Soprano Coloratura in
Miguel Azguime’s opera
A Laugh to Cry In April 2024, she was be heard again in this role at the Sonorities Festival in Belfast, Ireland. In the 2023/24 season, she took on the title role in the world premiere of Icaro by Alessandro Battici at JOiN - Junge Oper in Nord, Stuttgart. Andrea Conangla is also active in the concert field, counting on her repertoire oratories by Bach, Händel, Mozart, Brahms and Delius.
The direct exchange with composers such as Helmut Lachenmann, Martin Schüttler, Jennifer Walshe, Bernhard Lang,
Miguel Azguime and Uday Krishnakumar has strongly influenced her artistic vision and inspired her to bring her own concerns to stage.

no fe·mi·ni·no was presented in Lisbon with the pianist Marcelo Amaral, where the reframing of Schumann’s song cycle
Frauenliebe und Leben within a mixed-media modern program sparked interest from the media. Andrea Conangla is the founder of the KollektivTRIGGER, a feminine vocal ensemble dedicated to contemporary music.
Her debut solo album
Autopsychografia featuring modern songs by Helmut Lachenmann, Sara Glojnarić,
Igor C. Silva, and Sofia Borges, after texts by Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, was released in April 2024.
