Born in Poland and raised in Portugal, Jan is known as an extremely versatile conductor with a repertoire ranging from Early Music to Contemporary Music; he has also experience in Opera, Musical Theatre, Choral or Symphonic music.

Jan is the Artistic Directr of the Orquestra Clássica do Centro, Orquestra de Câmara de Almada and Ensemble MPMP, with whom he has been championing Portuguese music; he is also Assistant Conductor to the Netherlands Philarmonic Orchestra.

He was Resident Conductor of the Operosa Festival, Assistant Chorus Conductor at the Dutch National Opera and has had the opportunity to work with Matthias Pintscher, Bernard Haitink, Paavo Järvi, Neeme Järvi, Juanjo Mena and Sir Mark Elder, among others.

He works regularly with the Gulbenkian Orchestra, Porto Symphony Orchestra Casa da Música, Portuguese Symphony Orchestra, Real Filharmonia de Galicia, Orquestra Clássica de Coimbra, Ensemble MPMP, Orquestra Cássica do Sul, Filarmonia das Beiras, Síntese Ensemble, Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa and Portuguese Chamber Orchestra, among others.

A scholar of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Jan currently studies on the Konzertexamen programme at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar, with Prof. Nicolas Pasquet and Eckhart Wycik. He holds a Masters degree in Conducting, completed with distinction from the Royal Northern College of Music, as well as a Bachelor degree in Conducting from the Natonal Orchstra Academy in Lisbon, where he studied with Jean-Marc Burfin.
