Diogo Novo Carvalho was born on the 15th July 1986 in Saint Maur des Fossés – Val de Marne, France.
He was four when his parents went back to Portugal and his interest in the piano starts at that time. The idea ripens and he starts his music studies when he was six, at the Music and Dance School Alberta Lima, in the piano class. In 2004 he finishes music complementary studies at the Music School Óscar da Silva, where he concludes piano classes with Anabela Santos and composition with Fernando Valente.
He applies for the composition course and joins the Superior School of Music and Arts in Porto. This same year he was invited to teach piano classes at the Music and Dance School Alberta Lima, where he still passes on his passion for the piano to the young and not so young students. Between 2003 and 2005 he attends the Jazz School in Porto, in the class of Diogo Vida. At the same time he takes part in several workshops, such as Percussion by Francisco Soares at the Music School Óscar da Silva; Piano Master Classes with Teixeira Lopes, Jaime Mota and Miguel Borges Coelho. He also takes part in several conferences at Casa da Música. In 2007 he takes part in the International Competition of Composition for Percussion Instruments and Drumset in Italy. Currently he attends the Composition course under the coordination of Eugénio Amorim. From 2004 to 2008 he works with Filipe Vieira, Dimitris Andrikopoulos and Fernando Lapa. In 2008 he has the privilege of having classes with the composer Magnus Lindberg. In September 2008, his work Letifico Innocens receives the golden medal in the 6th Composition Competition of Volos, Greece, in the category of composition for symphony orchestra.
