Time has come when a good barbarian is one that reacts even before the action, against not only the old laws of physics but also in contradiction of the moral principles of either religion chosen – or imposed – as a shield to greed, ignorance and stupidity. If stochastic processes characterized the violent nature of humankind, we could say that after years of balancing between two or more stable states, we’ve reached the border of chaos and no one can sanely predict the consequences of one’s actions.
Alquimia is the first piece of the Efeito Dominó cicle, which regards the diversity of possible action-reaction schemes, specially focusing on long-term consequences, as the main inspiration. Alquimia deals with the inside nature of organic sounds that suffer continuous changes driven by different influences from external sources. The energy involved in the interaction between bodies that collide or accelerate driven by the kinetics of other bodies is transformed in different kinds of energy, gaining in momentum just before extinction. Through it’s capabilities of reaching known references and distorting them in every way imaginable, electronic music is perhaps one of the last domains were the beauty of alchemy is still possible: transforming water in fire or copper in gold is as believable as distorting all dimensions, tangible or not, making unbelievably wide spaces visible in an infinitesimal lapse of time.
