This work deals with three main ideas: motion, memory and mystery, all of which are combined and represented in a sonic portrait with a dreamlike contour.
The piece is mostly built with sounds of concrete origin, both recognizable found objects and abstract sounds. The latter were heavily processed and are used throughout the work with little change giving it a repetitive texture that is sharply balanced by a clear formal unfolding. The idea of a loose time, mimicking a dream state moment, is reinforced by the pervasive use of a harmonic background. This background, based on the harmonic series of the A pitch appears as a distant call that echoes a lost stability.
The recognizable sound objects of unfazed children at play, the overpowering sound of jet planes and the anxious sound of a train, are used to suggest an unsettling feeling, much like a strange dream. The suggestion of dreaming is further and directly exploited with the use of sounds associated with sleeping.
The music materials are organized as a sequence of sonic images laid out on a temporal frame which unites and strengthens them.
