Nezara viridula, usually called the greenbug, is an insect easily found in southern Slovakia, especially in Levice. For the past 10 years, I've been privy to this insect, mainly in the garden at home during the summer, but also in my office during the spring, autumn and winter.
When it flies, this insect makes a very distinctive noise. You can detect Nezara viridula just by the sound of its wings. As a composer, the main feature that stands out for me in the auditory field is the very rapid oscillation between high and medium frequency noises that the insect's wings emit as it flies. Perfect glissandos and perfect oscillations, in my opinion! The intensity of these glissandos/oscillations varies depending on the distance from the receiver.
The aim of this composition is not to imitate the noises of Nezara viridula. Instead, the aim is to create and portray a sound environment close to this insect...
