Nuno Figueiredo (1982, Portugal) studied trumpet at the Conservatory of Calouste Gulbenkian in Aveiro, Portugal. Continued his musical studies at the University of Aveiro, where he completed a Bachelor’s degree in composition. Besides the academic studies with João Pedro Oliveira, Sara Carvalho and Joan Riera, he attended also particular lessons with Ricardo Ribeiro. He participated at many composition courses and seminars given by Emanuel Nunes, Ignacio Baca Lobera, Pedro Amaral and Christopher Bochmann. He received several awards in different composition competitions: 2009 best portuguese electroacoustic piece in 10th Electroacoustic Music Competition, sponsored by Miso Music Lisbon, for the work The Electronic Sounds of the Birds; finalist of 2nd International Composition Competition organized by Casa da Música, Porto, with the work Klanken Uit; 2010 first prize in 5th International Composition Competition of Póvoa de Varzim, with the concert for clarinet and orchestra Ocaso; 2011 honorary mention in 1st International Composition Competition Caravelas, for the piece Zoey – duas imágens poéticas; 2013 finalist in 1st International Orchestral Composition Competition “Novos Compositores”, organized by Orchestra Metropolitana of Lisbon, for the work Considerationibus. Actually, he is finishing a Master’s Degree in composition at the University of Aveiro, under the supervision of Vasco Negreiros. His works have been played in Portugal, Slovak, France, Monaco and Brasil.
