The idea of the piece was to explore and take further some material used in other pieces I had written before. It starts with and introduction and an A section thick in counterpoint, progressing towards the climax where there is a distension leading to a B section where different layers of music material are superimposed. The idea was taken from Lutoslawski’s Chain 3 but was revisited by me in a completely different way. While I was writing this piece the idea of taking risks was extremely clear in my mind, which justifies my recent obsession of creating more than two layers of musical material working at the same time, creating an idea of ear blindness being difficult to focus on any particular musical moment.
