The American Suite was composed from memories of my musical life, as a guitar player in my native country, Brazil. In this work I sketched a scenario composed of strongly differentiated sounds – like the melodies in the "Charanguito" or "Bossa-Nova" style – intertwined with the syncopated rhythms and the "ayre de danza" that permeate all movements. As a result, the music floats between contrasting environments, exposed in a passionate and direct way. I dedicated this work to my first music teacher, my uncle Bayard Umbuzeiro: an unforgettable sailor, who flooded my childhood with his guitar.
