"Magistri Mei" is a cycle of pieces that seeks to deal with the weight and legacy of the Western classical music tradition.
I assume this heritage with a particular position of rupture, because, in my view, the very notion of tradition impels me to question it.
This piece in particular is a "petit hommage" to Anton Bruckner's ideas of polyphony, which I try to explore not only through traditional polyphonic development, but mainly through sound spatialisation linked to musical gestures expressed in spatial patterns that travel through a dome-shaped sound system.
This work was commissioned as part of the "Embodied Gestures" project by the Tangible Music Lab (University of Art and Design, Linz, Austria). In this work, there is a concern to explore the physical gesture in music. This idea was facilitated by the new musical interfaces developed as part of this research project, which were used in the conception and creation of this piece, along with algorithms, regular patterns and the supremacy of gesture materialised in sound objects in a counterpoint of spatial polyphony.
