JOÃO CARLOS PINTO (*1998) was born in Braga, Portugal.
He studied Piano and Music Composition at the Gulbenkian Conservatory in Braga, did his bachelor in Composition at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa, and pursued his Master’s in Multimedia Composition at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg, having Alexander Schubert as his tutor.
His work has been presented in countries like: South Korea, USA, Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, Germany, France, The Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, Norway, Iceland, Denmark, Spain and all over Portuguese territory.
Has received commissions by: UNESCO, Braga Media Arts, ZKM Karlsruhe, Gaudeamus, Schallfeld Ensemble, ensemble neoN, RTP, Antena 2, Casa da Música, Centro Cultural de Belém, Gulbenkian Orchestra, Jovem Orquestra Portuguesa, Orquestra das Beiras, Arte no Tempo and Aveiro City Council.
As a performer, he interprets works of experimental new theatre (f.e. with Tobias Pfeil, Diego Muhr), as well he plays electronic instruments that he builds and modifies, in projects like: CACO.MEAL, Omniae Large Ensemble, Peter Evans’ Som Crescente and xD.
João’s scores are edited and distributed by: Babel Scores, MPMP, Scherzo Editions and Arte no Tempo.
