 Carlos Guedes was born in Oporto in 1968. He completed a Bachelor in Composition in the Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espectáculo of Oporto, and a Master Degree at the University of New York in 1996. He has also followed various masterclasses and completed a Post-Graduation in Electronic Music at The Hague Institute of Sonology. Carlos Guedes has recently obtained a PhD in Composition by the University of New York, where he taught as a Graduate Assistant at the Department of Music and Performing Arts from 1996 to 1998. Since 2003 he has directed the Composition Course at ESMAE, where he teaches Composition, Electroacoustic Composition and Design in the Music and Theatre Departments. He researches within the field of algorithm implementation of composition processes and real time treatment and has presented several conferences on this subject. As a composer he has collaborated with artists of different areas, such as Dance, Theatre and Cinema, and works on interactive installations. EXTERNAL LINKS Carlos Guedes
