Activities of the composers published by the mic.pt
Daniel Moreira
Daniel Moreira, composer published by the MIC.PT, will premiere his work Do Desconcerto do Mundo, for two amateur choir and instrumental ensemble, on the next 6th December, at Casa da Música. This work, comissioned by Casa da Música, will be performed by the Remix Ensemble, accompanied by the Coral de Letras da Universidade do Porto, and by Orquestra Som da Rua e Cor da Voz (Santa Casa da Misericórdia da Maia).
João Pedro Oliveira
From 1st to 4th of December, the composer published by the MIC.PT, João Pedro Oliveira, will have the world premiere of the cycle of works 4 Elementos, at the Fachada Digital do Espaço do Conhecimento in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. This cycle is composed by the videomusic works 'Âphâr, Neshamah, Hydatos and Et Ignis Involvens. In the meantime, on December 3rd, the composer will also have his work Magma played at the Festival of Contemporary Music Urticanti, in Bari, Italy.
Miguel Azguime
Miguel Azguime will have his work O Rouxinol do Imperador, for a storyteller and electronics, performed by Ágata Mandillo in the concert Contos Contados Com Som at Teatro da Rainha, on the next 5th and 6th December. Right after that, on the 7th, the composer published by the MIC.PT will also have his work Moment à l’Extremement, for solo cello and electronics, performed by Filipe Quaresma, at the Museu do Vinho de Alcobaça.
Fernando C. Lapa
The work of the composer Fernando C. Lapa will have an active month. On the 4th December, the Canções populares transmontanas will be performed by the Paris Guitar Quartet at Chapelle Saint-Nicolas in Igny. The next day, the composer published by the MIC.PT will have his music, for four hands piano, played by Bruno Belthoise and João Costa Ferreira, on the show Homero | Um conto de Sophia de Mello Breyner, at Cité Scolaire Internationale de Lyon. On the 16th of December it will be Coro Mille Voce, conducted by António Diogo, to perform the Canções tradicionais portuguesas at Igreja dos Clérigos, in Porto, on the occasion of the release of the CD Natal dos Fernandos. Two days later, on the 18th December, the Centro Paulo VI, in Fátima, will have Para um Natal Português played by the Coro e orquestra do Conservatório de Música do Porto, and conducted by Fernando Marinho. To conclude, Fernando Lapa will also have his Magnificat played on the concerto Um Concerto de Natal by Coro de Pequenos Cantores de Esposende, with Diogo Zão in the organ and conducted by Helena Venda Lima. This concerto will take place at Igreja de Marinhas, in Esposende, on the 23th December.
António Ferreira
António Ferreira, composer recently published by the MIC.PT, will have his work for a storyteller and electronics A Nova Música do rei ou a Música do Silêncio Mágico performed by Ana Baptista in the concert Contos Contados Com Som at Teatro da Rainha, on the next 5th and 6th December.
GMCL plays Jorge Peixinho
The GMCL (Grupo de Música Contemporânea de Lisboa) will play the work Sine Nomine by the composer published by the MIC.PT, Jorge Peixinho. This work will start the second part of a tribute concert to Filipe Pires, at Salão Nobre do Conservatório Nacional, on the next 2nd December.
Isabel Soveral
The composer published by the MIC.PT, Isabel Soveral will have her work for a storyteller and electronics Nuno e os Monstros performed by Ana Baptista in the concert Contos Contados Com Som at Teatro da Rainha, on the next 5th and 6th December.
Cândido Lima
On December 6th, the CD Oceânides by Cândido Lima will be released at Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa. Later on, on the 16th December, the composer published by the MIC.PT will have the Concerto de Música Mista concert at Rivoli, in Porto, where the composer himself will play on the piano the following works of his own: OPTIC-MUSIC - quadros cinéticos, MOMENTO-PAISAGEM - sound walk, ETRAS - cantos de sonhi ma, OCEANOS (“magma”, segundo Xenakis), (Ad libitum), and Música de Viagem, for the short film by Leonor Lima: FLIGHT.
Jaime Reis
Between December 27th and 30th, the 32nd edition of the DME Festival (Dias de Música Electroacústica) will take place in Serra da Estrela. Counting the international editions, this is the 51st edition of this festival organized by Jaime Reis, composer published by the MIC.PT. This festival highlights the presence of composers such as Michel Pascal, Armando Corridore, Elizabeth Anderson, Gaetano Pepe, Simone Castellan, Tiago Morais Morgado, Henrique Couto, Adrian Laugsch, João Pedro Oliveira, Gustavo Delgado, José Carlos Sousa and the artist Ana Mandillo.
Ricardo Matosinhos
Ricardo Matosinhos will premiere his works R u tall king tummy? op. 69 and The Human Puppet op. 70 at ClarMeet.Porto’16 (6º Encontro Internacional de Clarinete da Associação Portuguesa de Clarinete), performed by the Clarinet Sextet Black & White and ClapDuo, respectively, on the 19th December. At the same time, the composer published by the MIC.PT is also organizing an international contest that aims to promote the work There’s a bottle in my (friend)ship!, awarding the best performances.
Pedro Rebelo
On the 2nd December, at O'culto da Ajuda, Pedro Rebelo, composer published by the MIC.PT, will perform at the improvised music concert "ZÍNGARO" | SCHROEDER | REBELO | MITZLAFF - 4tet.

António de Sousa Dias

António de Sousa Dias, composer published by the MIC.PT, will be presenting the project MUTABILIS - a performance by Paula Pinto, António de Sousa Dias and Rita Casaes that results from the blending of movement, sound and image -, at O'culto da Ajuda, on the next 9th December. The performance develops from the detection of the presence and the motion generated by the dance performer in a space equipped with a surround sound system and frontal and vertical video projection proposing an immersive sensory experience, seeking to capture the movement of reality, a contribution to the gathering of the whole of the human reality in its diversity and depth. This show, which is part of the Festival Temps d'Images 2016, is a Miso Music Portugal / Temps d'Images co-production and results from an artistic residency at O'culto da Ajuda.

. NEW COMPOSER PUBLISHED BY THE MIC.PT
This December, Paulo Bastos joins the Composers Published by the MIC.PT. The MIC.PT on-line Score Catalogue includes already three of his works: Cinco canções de Miguel Torga for voice and guitar orchestra (2016), for Alice again for alto/tenor saxophone, violin, cello and piano (2013) and Wandering for flute and marimba (2015).
Paulo Bastos was born in 1967, in Vila Pouca de Aguiar. He studied composition at the Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espectáculo. This portuguese composer dedicates great part of his work to chamber and children’s music, although his solo, orchestral and electronic production is also significant. His works have been performed, and some also recorded, by some of the best musicians and ensembles, in Portugal and abroad. His Works have also been published by AVA Musical Editions, Association Bar&Co, APEM and Universidade do Minho.
News Scores on the MIC.PT
The MIC.PT publishes and provides online twelve new scores by three Portuguese contemporary composers, that is: Cinco canções de Miguel Torga (2016) for voice and guitar orchestra, for Alice again (2013) for alto/tenor saxophone, violin, cello and piano, and Wandering (2015) for flute and marimba by Paulo Bastos; Essay XVIII (2015) for accordion, Flight of Icarus (2015) for Eb clarinet, and O suspiro do rouxinol (2016) for soprano, clarinet and piano by Christopher Bochmann; as well as Redra (2002) for orchestra, Lírios roxos do campo (2005) for solo piano, Esgrafitos (2005) for violin, double-bass and piano, Romã (2008) for solo flute, Bagas de zimbro (2011) for percussion ensemble, piano and electric bass, and O passeio da rã negra (2011) for solo piano by Amílcar Vasques-Dias. The score edition by the MIC.PT aims at distributing scores of works by Portuguese composers, making them available online and thus promoting the knowledge and choice of Portuguese music among performers, ensembles, programmers and researchers. The MIC.PT online Score Catalogue presently includes 962 works by 63 Portuguese composers.
WORLD MUSIC DAYS 2017
In the context of the Call for Scores for the World Music Days 2017, Miso Music Portugal, the Portuguese Section of ISCM, selected six portuguese composers published by the MIC.PT to include their works with the official submission for this worlwide festival dedicated to new music. The selected composers are: Cândido Lima, Paulo Ferreira-Lopes, Rui Dias, Gonçalo Gato, Daniel Moreira and Ângela da Ponte. All works submitted to WMD 2017 by the National Sections and other ISCM members, will be chosen by an international jury to be programmed at the World Music Days 2017 which will take place in Vancouver, Canada, from 2nd to 8th November 2017.

This December Música Hoje completes 3 years dedicated to the dissemination of new music that is done in Portugal. We intend to celebrate this mission dedicating the 3 emissions of this month to the Portuguese electroacoustic music creation, presenting a brief panorama with the music of the most relevant creators among us in this musical field, from the precursors of the 60's to the present day.
The names of pioneers such as Jorge Peixinho, Filipe Pires and Cândido Lima will naturally be present, but also João Pedro Oliveira, António Ferreira, António de Sousa Dias and even the brand new and emerging values.

Dossier no. 10: Portuguese Composers
of the 20th and 21st Centuries
This December, in the context of the new series Dossiers: Portuguese Composers of the 20th and 21st Centuries, we provide a new online publication - the new edition in English of the Dossier no. 10 dedicated to Pedro Rebelo. The series Portuguese Composers of the 20th and 21st Centuries, intends to promote the work of Portuguese contemporary composers, constituting an “introspection” in the work of every composer, being simultaneously an encouragement to explore and (re)discover their music, as well as their aesthetic and philosophic reflection. Each Dossier is built of a short biography, questionnaire/interview or musicological article, catalogue of works with two ordinations (by instrumentation and following the chronological order) and discography.
