Carlos Alberto Augusto

Carlos Alberto Augusto, composer published by the MIC.PT, will have his opera for soprano and electronics TMIE: on the threshold of the outside world performed by soprano Marina Pacheco and spacialized by Carlos Alberto Augusto, on the 16^th June, at Teatro da Trindade.

Amilcar Vasques-Dias

On the 16^th, 17^th and 18^th June, at Convento dos Capuchos in Almada, the composer published by the MIC.PT, Amilcar Vasques-Dias, will have the premiere of his opera Chamilly, Mon Amour - Uma história de Soror Mariana Alcoforado a partir de “Cartas Portuguesas”, with libretto by Helena da Nóbrega.

The A Conferência dos Pássaros, a 5 acts opera, for soloists, choir and orchestra by Daniel Schvetz will be premiererd on the 17^th at the Grande Auditório of CCB. The opera by the composer published by the MIC.PT will be performed by the Coro e Orquestra do Atelier Musical da Escola de Música do Conservatório Nacional also on the 18^th.

Percussão Extraordinária with works by portguese composers

Throughout June, the O'culto da Ajuda will have the Percussão Extraordinária cycle, as part of the Festas de Lisboa 2017 festivities. This cycle will have performances by percussionists Miguel Bernat, Pedro Carneiro and Nuno Aroso, and also the Drumming Marimba Quartet, during which will be premiered the works Orbital Shift Variations, for marimba quartet, and Trabalhos da Madeira for marimba and electronics, by Miguel Azguime, and Omniscience is a Collective by Jaime Reis, composers published by the MIC.PT. There will also be performances of the works Música Para 30 Metais by Luís Antunes Pena and Vox Sum Vitae by João Pedro Oliveira, also composers published by the MIC.PT, as well as the works Ki/Mzungo by Pedro Carneiro, Estudo de Oitavas by Nuno Côrte-Real and No Moon by José Alberto Gomes.

Jaime Reis will have his work Omniscience is a Collective performed by Nuno Aroso on the Percussão Extraordinária cycle, on the 17 of June, at O'culto da Ajuda. Also in June, the composer published by the MIC.PT will have his work Sinais no Tempo performed by Bertrand Chavarría-Aldrete at Centro Português de Fotografia, in Porto, on the 25^th of June.

Miguel Azguime, composer published by the MIC.PT, will have the premiere of his work Orbital Shift Variations by the Drumming Marimba Quartet on the 2^nd of June and the premiere of his work Trabalhos da Madeira by Pedro Carneiro for marimba and electronics, on the 16^th of June. These premieres are integrated on the Percussão Extraodiránia cycle, which will take place at O'culto da Ajuda, in Lisbon throughout June. On the 25^th of June, the composer will also have his work Illuminations for orchestra performed by the Orquestra de Câmara Portuguesa and conducted by Pedro Carneiro, at Casa da Música.

The Orquestra Gulbenkian, conducted byt Pedro Amaral, composer published by the MIC.PT, will premiere his opera Beaumarchais on the 22^nd of June. This opera will be on stage at Teatro Nacional D. Maria II until July 2^nd with staging by Jorge Andrade.

João Pedro Oliveira

The work Petals (video) by João Pedro Oliveira was selected to be included in the festival Anima Mundi. Between 11^th and 18^th June the composer will participate at ISEA (International Symposium on electronic art), where his work 'Âphâr will be performed. The composer published by the MIC.PT will be on tour in Argentina with his work In Tempore performed by pianist Ana Cláudia Assis: on the 16^th at Conservatório Ginastera, on the 17^th at Conservatório Falla (Buenos Aires), on the 20^th at La Rioja University and on the 23^th at Cordobairá University. On the 17^th, the composer will have his work Vox Sum Vitae performed by Nuno Aroso, at a concert integrated in the Percussão Extraórdinária cycle, at O'culto da Ajuda. The composer published by the MIC.PT will also have his work Titanium, for 4 hands piano and 2 toy pianos, performed at the New York Computer and Electronic Music Festival, on the 21^st. Still in June, João Pedro Oliveira will have his work Piramides de Cristal performed at 10x10 Concert Series in London, on the 28^th.

Percussão Extraordinária – Drumming and Miguel Bernat

In June a cycle of recitals dedicated to percussion and integrated in the Festas de Lisboa 2017 festivities will take place at O’culto da Ajuda.
4 major percussion protagonists in Portugal show what the extraordinary percussion is about on the XX^th and XXI^st centuries with state of the art performances of significant works both portuguese and from abroad.
In this first broadcast, Música Hoje will focus on the June 2^nd and 3^rd performances by Drumming Marimba Quartet and Miguel Bernat.

Following on the first broadcast in June, the second Música Hoje broadcast will reveal some of the works that the percussionists Pedro Carneiro and Nuno Aroso will perform at O’culto da Ajuda in Lisbon on June 16^th and 17^th. These recitals are part of the Percussão Extraordinária cycle, showing us what the extraordinary percussion is about on the XX^th and XXI^st centuries with state of the art performances of significant works both portuguese and from abroad.

International Electroacoustic Composition Competition: Música Viva 2017

The third and last Música Hoje broadcast in June is dedicated to reveal first-hand the awarded works of the 18th International Electroacoustic Composition Competition Música Viva 2017 which took place last May, in Lisbon.

of the 20th and 21st Centuries

This June, in the context of the new series Dossiers: Portuguese Composers of the 20th and 21st Centuries, we provide a new online publication - the new editions in English and in Portuguese of the Dossier no. 13 devoted to António de Sousa Dias. The series Portuguese Composers of the 20th and 21st Centuries, intends to promote the work of Portuguese contemporary composers, constituting an “introspection” in the work of every composer, being simultaneously an encouragement to explore and (re)discover their music, as well as their aesthetic and philosophic reflection. Each Dossier is built of a short biography, questionnaire/interview or musicological article, catalogue of works with two ordinations (by instrumentation and following the chronological order) and discography.
