With nearly a decade of activity, the Sond'Ar-te Electric Ensemble gives priority to the promotion and performance of art music of our time developing a repertoire with electronic media integration – this is its greatest uniqueness both nationally and internationally.

Since its foundation in 2007, the Sond'Ar-te Electric Ensemble made more than 40 commissions to Portuguese composers, actively contributing to the internationalization of the Portuguese music of today. In the 2015/2016 season the ensemble will premiere 12 works, 4 of which were recently presented at the Música Viva Festival 2016. This year the Sond’Ar-te will release 2 new phonographic editions with Portuguese new music. The ensemble is also organises an International Competition for chamber music with electronics, now in its 6th edition. This year in September will also take place the International Young Composers Music Forum by the Sond'Ar-te Electric Ensemble, encouraging musical creation and working as a laboratory, in the intersection of acoustic instruments, electronics and other media.

In June the In Focus is dedicated to this ensemble that establishes itself in the Portuguese and international scene with unusual artistic, editorial and educational qualities, following recent trends in contemporary music and exploring new territories for the musical creation.

PORTUGUESe music in the Extraordinary piano Cycle
Several works by composers edited by the MIC.PT will be performed in the “Extraordinary Piano” cycle, which will take place every Saturday in June at the O’culto da Ajuda, in Lisbon. The “Extraordinary Piano” cycle is an initiative of Miso Music Portugal, and includes four recitals by four women pianists: Anne Kaasa, Elsa Silva, Ana Telles and Joana Gama. In the four concerts will be presented several piano works of the 20th and 21st centuries, including two premieres of pieces by composers published by the MIC.PT: Descriptions de la Matière (for piano and electronics), by Miguel Azguime, in the recital of Elsa Silva, on June 11, and Letter to Jean-Sébastien Béreau, by Christopher Bochmann, in the recital of Ana Telles, June 18. The recitals also include works by other Portuguese composers, along with emblematic works of the piano repertoire of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. On June 4 Anne Kaasa will play works by Leoš Janáček, Fernando Lopes-Graça, Manuel de Falla, Olivier Messiaen and two pieces by Clotilde Rosa, composer edited by the MIC.PT. On June 11 Elsa Silva proposes a program titled "Piano Alters", with works by John Cage, Arnold Schoenberg, Jorge Peixinho, Filipe Pires and Miguel Azguime. On June 18 Ana Telles proposes a journey that takes the aesthetic universe of Olivier Messiaen as a starting point, interpreting pieces of the composer, alongside works by Jaime Reis, João Pedro Oliveira and Christopher Bochmann (three composers published by the MIC.PT), and piano pieces by Paul Méfano and Jean-Sébastien Béreau. In the last recital, on June 25, Joana Gama will play a work for piano and electronics by Tiago Cutileiro, another composer published by the MIC.PT, next to a piece by Morton Feldman. The concerts take place every Saturday, 4, 11, 18 and 25 June, 9:30 p.m., at the O'culto da Ajuda, and are integrated in the Festas de Lisboa 2016.
