LUÍS TINOCO "IN FOCUS" ON MIC.PT IN JULY
In July the mic.pt “In Focus” section is dedicated to Luís Tinoco, who in November will premier at the Citè de la Musique a new piece for spatialized orchestra, “Cercle Intérieur” – a commission of the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra. Born in a family with strong musical traditions, he graduated in composition from the Lisbon Superior School of Music in order to continue the composition course at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Recently he has completed his PhD studies at the University of York exercising, simultaneously to his activity as composer, the function as teacher at the Lisbon Superior School of Music. In the context of programming and promoting new music one should emphasise his collaboration with the Antena 2 (RTP) as author and producer of radiophonic programmes dedicated to new music, and as artistic director of the Young Musicians Award (Prémio Jovens Músicos). Luís Tinoco’s music "can" be perceived as a journey through the memories, which fill the sonorous landscape of the 20th century: Igor Stravinsky, György Ligeti, [Harrison Birtwistle, Louis Andriessen, Toru Takemitsu, György Kurtág, Magnus Lindberg], from jazz to electronic music.”

MÚSICA VIVA 2012 FESTIVAL – GIVING VOICE!
The 18th edition of the Música Viva Festival entitled “Giving Voice!” will be taking place in Lisbon at two different venues and timelines – September 18th to 23rd at the Belém Art Centre and from October 1st to 10th at the Goethe-Institut in Lisbon. The programme will be devoted, in its essence, to new Portuguese creation, with the focus on the relations of music with technology.
Counting with the excellence and complicity of an eminent variety of artists and participants, without the generosity of whom it would not be possible to realize this year this event, the Festival’s programme will include debates, 7 concerts and an "excessive" sound installation, Sound Walk, presenting 60 works, among which 40 are by Portuguese composers and with 15 world-premiere performances. The highlight will be given to the music of Constança Capdeville (for her 75th anniversary and 20 years after her passing) and to the music of Álvaro Salazar.
